It's the perfect size for a general bushcraft/camp knife, especially if you combine it with an axe or saw for heavier wood processing tasks. It's big enough to split kindling (or even cross-cut small logs by batoning if you had to), but light enough to carry everywhere, and small enough to give good control for finer cutting tasks.
Excellent blade design. One of the things that really stands out about the BK16 compared to similar knives is the slim blade profile. Many other knives in this category are too thick. This saves weight but, more importantly, gives good slicing performance. A blade of this size isn't a heavy chopper, splitter, or prybar, where a thick blade is useful; it's primary function is slicing and cutting, where an overly thick blade is detrimental. The full flat grind is another feature that contributes to great slicing performance by making the side angles more accute and keeping the blade profile slim. That said, the blade is thick enough to be robust, and you can be absolutely confident batoning it, beating on it, etc. The skeletonized full tang design is also very robust. The drop point tip works well for batoning and is strong, but also good enough for some fine tip work. Look at the BK17 if you want to trade off robustness for a finer tip.
I find the contoured handle to be extremely comfortable (I have medium sized hands). That said, a contoured handle increases comfort in the standard grip position, but is less flexible than a more neutral handle design. For example, I find that the handle design 'wants' the hand to be in a certain position, and slightly resists choking up (even though it can be done).
Some find the Zytel scales to be on the slippery side, but I've found them to be fine, both wet and dry. You can easily replace them with custom scales or micarta ones made by Kabar, or add spacers if you want a thicker handle. Customizability is one of of the great things about the bolt-on scale design. The included scales are very slightly narrower than the handle. For comfort, you'll want to align them flush with the bottom side of the handle, so that slightly protruding metal edge of the handle is against your palm instead of your fingers.
The 1095 steel works great. Very respectable performance for the price. Sharpens up to a razor edge, holds it decently well, and re-sharpens easily. The coating means you don't have to worry about rust, except for oiling the edge. The coating holds up well, but the texture is too rough; a smoother blade would have less resistance when passing through material. That said, it will wear smoother with use, or you could use light sand paper to smooth it out.
The sheath is good quality, but it's too long for the BK16's blade. It's a common design for the BK15, BK16, and BK17. The BK15's blade is longer, so the sheath sticks out too far on the BK16/17. That's a design flaw in my opinion, even if it doesn't hurt anything. If it bugs you, you can cut it and sew it shorter, or buy an aftermarket sheath (Kydex would be a nice upgrade anyway).
Becker/Kabar are a great company, and the lifetime warranty gives confidence in their products.
That being said, I love this knife! The second I had it in my hand it just felt "right". The ergonomics of the handle are great. It sharpens relatively easily. The design of the blade allows it be slim enough to be a good slicer, but beefy enough to handle some batoning. It quickly became my every day carry knife. I work in landscaping and typically use this knife in the place of pruning shears. It can handle bigger branches and is more versatile than pruning shears. But I'm a little bias because I'm a "knife guy" any way. I also love that it has a flat grind as opposed to a scandi grind or a saber grind.
The knife is fine out of the box, but if you want a really nice bk16 I would recommend some modifications to push it to the next level. On my knife I stripped the coating off of the blade to reduce drag while cutting. I put a grey patina on the blade by dipping it into boiling white vinegar. I also re-profiled my edge at a 15 degree angle, and replaced the handle scales with the micarta scales that ka-bar sales. I then dyed the scales with the Rit brand of dye that is sold at Walmart. The stock scales are amazingly ergonomic, but are too slick for me. The micarta scales give the knife better grip, and a classier look. If you don't want to buy new scales but want to increase the grip then you could just put some "ranger bands" around the handle, or grind some groves into it with a dremel tool. Last, I made a leather sheath for it because I'm just not a fan of the sheath that it comes with. The sheath feels bulky for such small knife, and has too much of military style look for my tastes. I'll try to put some pics up of the knife in use and after modification.
Pros: knife is solid, has flat grind, comes with a thick protective coating, has amazing ergonomics, is reasonably priced, has a great blade design, is made of good materials, has after market scales and sheaths for sale.
Cons: handle scales are slick, comes with a protective coating that is a bit thick, has less than impressive sheath
Over all I think this knife is amazing for the price. Even with out the modifications I feel like this is the closest you can get to perfection for the price. I would recommend this knife to any one who is looking for a full tang bushcraft or EDC knife under $100. Are there better knives on the market? Sure there are, but get ready to pay an extra $50-$100.

This is the actual Becker BK-16 the add does not show that for some reason as of this post. The knife came in the original factoy packaging and included the extra tan colored handle set not shown in the add.
This is the real deal you can buy with confidence!
Can go wrong with a beck BK-16. Remember this is Ethan Beckers favorite knife and the man knows knives.
